Now in its 15th year, the Isle of Wight Classic Car Extravaganza 2016 promises to be the biggest and best ever. Vehicles will be attending this unique two-day event from all over the UK, with many more from mainland Europe. This spectacular collection of rare and beautiful cars is a delight for adults and children of all ages. Many of the owners combine the event weekend with an extended short break to enjoy the rest of the Island, which provides a picture-perfect vintage backdrop for the vehicles as they tour around.
Two free classic car displays
The two main displays are in Newport and Ryde over the weekend and there is no admission charge for the public. Visitors are treated to cars as diverse as the iconic gull-wing doored DeLorean to the equally exotic Panther DeVille Cabriolet. Just about every other classic car and motorcycle marque are represented, with an impressive contingent of American classics on show as well as those from Isle of Wight resident owners. A multitude of classic cars will arrive and park-up each day and visitors can enjoy the cars from 11am to 5pm each day:
Saturday 17th September – Newport Quay
Sunday 18th September – Ryde Esplanade
The IW Classic car extravaganza was created by Victor Gallucci and has grown in popularity with car owners an visitors alike over the years. Expect to see a wide variety of vintage, classic, custom and retro cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles. In total more than 700 are expected over the two days.
Visitors who enjoyed the show were invited to make a charitable contribution and all monies collected were donated directly to local charities. The organisers and volunteers do a magnificent job to manage such an impressive fleet of vehicles and the efforts were certainly much appreciated by everyone.
